Jammu, November 12 : The 12-day Jammu Book Fair began at GR Santosh Gallery, Kala Kendra, on Monday.
It has been organised by the National Book Trust, New Delhi, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) and Kala Kendra, Jammu.
Sunaina Mehta, secretary, Jammu Municipal Corporation, inaugurated the book fair in the presence of Shyam Lal Kori, in charge, Jammu Book Fair; Vijay Saraf, president, Amar Singh Club, Jammu; and Arvinder Singh Amn, JKAACL secretary.
Appreciating the event organisers, Sunaina said the fair would encourage and boost the youth, in particular, for linking them with book culture.
She said as many as 2,500 titles of books in Hindi and English and nine regional languages, including Dogri, Gojri, Pahari, Punjabi, Kashmiri, Urdu, Ladakhi, Balti and Chhina, under the publications of the JKAACL had been displayed at the fair. The event will prove to be a point of interaction for one and all, Sunaina added.
The book fair will continue till November 22.
