Chamba, Himachal,April 8 : Kamal Parsad Sharma, a noted writer, litterateur and historian of Chamba, died here on Saturday. He was ailing for a long time.
Sharma (82) was folklorist of exceptional merit. His first book that came out in 1992, was “Biunsali” based on the study of folk musical instruments of Chamba with special reference to folk “Musadha and Ainchali” singers.
His endeavour for documenting the cultural heritage of alpine Chamba region, Sharma was honoured by then Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Ambika Soni, while presiding over the “Chamba Millennium Celebrations” held at Chamba town in April 2006.
