Chandigarh, August 29 : On the advice of Navjot Singh Sidhu, Minister for Cultural Affairs, the Punjab Arts Council, in a rare gesture, has started celebrating birth anniversaries of eminent authors and artistes.
During such a function, under the chairmanship of poet Dr Surjit Patar at Punjab Kala Bhawan, tributes were paid to the authors and artistes born in August.
The gathering paid tributes to Amrita Pritam, Ajmer Aulakh, Sohan Singh Sital, Dr Harbhajan Singh, Ram Sarup Ankhi, Vidhata Singh Teer, Randhir Singh Chand, Tara Singh Kamil, Inderjit Hasanpuri, Hazara Singh Ramta, Asa Singh Mastana and Amar Singh Shonki.
Well-known scholars Dr Yog Raj, Dr Nirmal Jaura, Dr Ninder Ghuganvi, Navdeep Singh Gill and others highlighted works of the authors and artists. Singers Sukhi Brar, Neelam Sharma, Gurinder Guri, Ravi Bal, Vishal and Manpreet Bhatti presented songs, immortalised by the legends. Punjabi litterateur Jang Bahadur Goel was felicitated for his contribution to the filed of literature.
