Sahitya Aaj Tak: Poet Piyush Mishra, musical maestros Javed Ali, Wadali brothers will commence Day 1

Sahitya Aaj Tak will see the presence of literary stalwarts renowned for their works in Hindi, Urdu, English, Awadhi, Bhojpuri and Punjabi.

The Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts will witness the grand convergence of music, arts, literature and cultural icons on November 16 with the inception of Sahitya Aaj Tak. The festivities of the day will begin by hailing the goddess of wisdom, Saraswati at 1 pm.

This festival, organised by Aaj Tak, will mark its third year this time around.

It will see the presence of literary stalwarts renowned for their works in Hindi, Urdu, English, Awadhi, Bhojpuri and Punjabi.

Starting off the day will be singer Javed Ali who will the enthral the audience with soulful Sufi music. Theatre lovers will also get to see the longest-running satirical play “Ghalib in Delhi”. The audience will also get to savour folk music through the alluring voice of Malini Awasthi.

Poet-cum-actor Piyush Mishra will also hold a tell-all session with his fans titled ‘Kuch Ishq Kiya Kuch Kaam Kiya’. The rest of the evening will be filled with the strains of bhajans and qawwali music.

Renowned poet and an Urdu critic Shamsur Rahman Faruqi and poet Prem Kumar Nazar will hold court at ‘Dastak Darbar’ while Hindi writer Nand Kishor Pandey, Mamta Kalia and Akhilesh will discuss ‘Sahitya Ka Rashtra Dharm’.

Sharing the experiences of women in literature will be novelist Indira Dangi, Neelima Chauhan and Sharmila Bohra. Well-known satirists Alok Puranik, Gyan Chaturvedi and Prem Janmejay will add their humorous touch to the proceedings.

Professors from prominent Delhi University colleges see the tech-savvy generation every day in their classrooms and so will opine on the effect of the worldwide net on book readership.

Bringing the day to a tranquil end will be devotional maestro Anup Jalota at 7 pm and Padmashree awardee kings of qawwali — the Wadali brothers.

Sahitya Aaj Tak will be divided into 100 sessions in which more than 200 guests from various fields will be in attendance.
