Sahitya Aaj Tak gives Dustak

Festival featuring Hindi literature, is hosted by Aaj-Tak, and will take place at IGNCA in 3 different stages for 3 consecutive days.

The much-awaited third annual “Sahitya Aaj-Tak” literary festival has arrived. The festival, featuring Hindi literature, is hosted by Aaj-Tak, and will take place at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) in three different stages for three consecutive days, starting today.

The first part of the session, the ‘Dustak Durbar’, will focus on performing arts, enlivened with a Qawwali, and a revealing session with actor-poet Piyush Mishra in ‘Kuch Ishq Kiya, Kuch Kaam Kiya’.

‘Dustak Darbar’ will start with a ‘Sufi Sangeet’, featuring acclaimed singer Javed Ali, followed by another musical act, the ‘Lok Sangeet’ where the famed Indian folk singer, Malini Awasthi, will take the stage. ‘Ghalib in Delhi’ by Pierrot’s Troupe, one of the most popular and longestrunning plays in India, will also be shown at the festival.

The next part of the day’s sessions ‘Halla Bol’, is a platform for some of the best-known writers. ‘Kalam Azad Hai Teri’ or ‘Your Pen is Free’ is a session of novelists Neelima Chauhan, Sharmila Bohra Jalan, and Indira Dangi, speaking on current literature in India, and on their experiences in writing.

Well-known poets, Madan Kashyap, Arun Dev, and Tejinder Luthra will talk about poetry in ‘Kavita ke Bahane’.

There will also be a great deal of wicked humour in ‘Tedi Baat’, with satirists Alok Puranik, Gyan Chaturvedi, and Prem Janmejay. ‘Ravishpanti’ with journalist Ravish Kumar, is a must-attend.

The literary part of the evening will conclude with a performance by singer Anup Jalota.
