Bokaro | Friday, 04 May 2018 : With an objective to enrich the close relationship of ‘Books’ and ‘Students’, a three- day Book Fair ‘Avalokan’ was organised at Delhi Public School in Bokaro on Thursday.
The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Neelima Rani Singh, DIG CISF and DIG CRPF, Suresh Sharma in Primary and Senior wings respectively.
While inaugurating the fair DIG CISF appreciated the efforts of DPS, Bokaro for organizing such an event and believed that this fair will benefit the students in inculcating good reading habits.
“Books are the easiest and best medium for acquiring knowledge and enriching vocabulary and thus students should make books their companion for life,” she added.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma expressed concern over the growing influence of visual as well as social media on the youth and how it has robbed away reading habits in children. “Reading alone can develop one’s personality and knowledge and expand their understanding of life”, he said.
He talked to the children regarding the importance of the books and appreciated the initiative taken by the school to encourage and inculcate reading habits in the students.
The three-day fair which is organised in association with Book Find, opened for the parents and the students, will continue till 5th May 2018. The fair has a wide array of books ranging from the fiction of popular and renowned writers like Enid Blyton, J. K. Rowling, Dan Brown, Ruskin Bond to the storybooks from R K Narayan like Malgudi Days, The Guide.
Non-fiction books like the autobiography of A P J Kalam and New Series of encyclopedia for the early science readers – are also available.
The highlight of the fair is the book written by Dr. Hemlata S Mohan- “Unlock the Child Inside the Child” a lucid guide to parenting and more.
