3-DAY TRIBAL LITERATURE FESTIVAL CONCLUDES

Bhopal : Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya organised a three-day seminar on tribal literature under tribal literature festival 2017, which concluded on Saturday.

In the seminar, around 70 papers were presented on tribal literature of different ethnic groups. But the intension of all papers was one that is to spread, protect and preserve the ethnic language and script. On the last day on Saturday, eight presentations were made.

The valedictory function started with address by Sudhir Srivastav. The chief guest of the function was Prof Vinay Srivastav, Director General Anthropological Survey of India. He spoke about the importance of the subject anthropology and the contribution of anthropologist in the study of other cultures. Chair person of the function was Prof Sarit Kumar Choudhury. Ruby Hembrom gave keynote address. She also highlighted the importance of tribal literature and tribal writers. Arun Kiro proposed a vote of thanks.

Kalanjali, exhibition cum sale of tribal paintings of paper mache, wooden toys, clothes, handicrafts, etc were sold at reasonable prices. The Sangrahalaya, Indira publishing House, Landmark, Book Paradise, Bhopal and Gyan Book Private Limited, New Delhi participated in book exhibition on tribal literature.

‘Aahar’ was the major attraction of this programme organized in Hajong residence near Vithi Sankul. People here can enjoy the delights of traditional dishes of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and West Bengal.

Programmes were also organised in which Gudum and Korku dance of Madhya Pradesh, lingo karsaddance

of Gadchiroli, Maharashtra which tells tales of Gond folklores and songs are sung in gondi language.
