Noted journalist and script writer Arun Sadhu passes away

  Arun Sadhu MUMBAI: Noted journalist and well known writer Arun Sadhu(76) passes away today morning in Mumbai. Sadhu breathed his last at the Sion Hospital, where he was admitted yesterday for a heart ailment. He was in a critical condition and put on ventilator support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), hospital sources said. “He was suffering from cardio myopathy,” Dr. Jayshree Mondkar, dean-in-charge of the hospital, said. Former editor of Free Press Journal, Sadhu has written many books in Marathi, Hindi as well as in English. He is better known for his novel in Marathi “Simhasan” and “Mumbai Dinank”. From 1978-87, Sadhu worked for Kolkata-based newspaper ‘The Statesman’ as a Special Correspondent He has also worked as a script writer in some films. Along with Sooni Taraporevala and Daya Pawar, Sadhu was a co-script writer of the movie Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar (2000). The role of Ambedkar was played by actor Mammootty. He won the National Film Award for Best Actor that year. The film was made in English & then dubbed in 9 Indian languages. Source: The Times Of India
