DHARWAD : A three-day annual Kannada literary event of Sahitya Sambhrama will begin at the Golden Jubilee Hall of Karnatak University here on Friday.
Literary critic Giraddi Govindaraj told presspersons here on Tuesday that Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree will inaugurate the event and writer Narahalli Balasubramanya will deliver the keynote address. N. Damodar Shetty will present an analysis of the events on all three days. The valedictory session is scheduled on Sunday.
Historian Ramachandra Guha will deliver a special talk. Writers Girish Karnad, Jayant Kaikini, Vivek Shanbhag, Ullas Karanth, Nagesh Hegde, H.S. Venkatesh Murthy, educationist Mohan Alva and others will take part in various sessions on topics related to Adil Shali literature, revision of Kannada script, history and theatre.
As this year marks the centenary of Kannada writer Gopalakrishna Adiga, a session has been dedicated to his memory. Mr. Kaikini will deliver a special talk on Adiga. Senior poets Siddhaling Pattanshetti, Chennaveer Kanavi, B.R. Lakshman Rao and others will read out selected poems of Adiga.
Various cultural shows and screening of the award winning Kannada film, Harivu, will be held. Various publication houses will set up their bookstalls at the venue, Mr. Govindaraj said.
