Penguin Random House India has bagged the prestigious “Publisher of the Year” award that recognises the efforts of India’s publishers in discovering and nurturing writers at Tata Literature Live here.
“We are absolutely delighted at being awarded Publisher of the Year, and would like to thank the Tata Live Literature Festival for recognising the immense amount of work and dedication of all those who made this happen. I cannot thank our industry enough for everything they do for authors, readers and publishers to keep the book front and centre of our lives and society,” said Gaurav Shrinagesh, CEO,
Penguin Random House India.
Decided on the basis of the Tata Literature Live Awards longlists and shortlists across Fiction and Non-Fiction, it is one of the very few awards in India to acknowledge publishers in a category separate from their writers.
Penguin India was started in 1985, and is the largest English language trade publisher in the subcontinent. Publishing at Penguin India began in 1987 with only six books and by 2017 it published around 250 new titles every year.
