Jammu, November 29 : The Dogri Sanstha, Jammu, on Thursday organised a multilingual mushaira here with an aim to provide a common platform to poets of the region.
Lalit Magotra, chief of the sanstha, presided over the event, while Ramesh Mehta, renowned Hindi poet, was the chief guest on the occasion. Surinder Seerat, renowned Punjabi writer, was the guest of honour.
A large number of literature lovers and prominent writers of Hindi, Punjabi, Dogri, Urdu, Gojri and Pahari attended the event.
Magotra, while presenting the presidential address, said though the language of expression of the poets was different, concerns and issues of the people highlighted by them were common.
The poets who participated in the mushaira included Anvaar Mirza and Antar Neerav (Pahari); Javed Rahi (Gojri); Deepak Aarsi, Ahmad Shanaas, Rajkumar Chandan and Sham Talib (Urdu); Ramesh Mehta, Rattan Lal Shant, Chanchal Dogra, Vijay Saraf ‘Meenaghi’ and Shyam Bihari (Hindi); Monojit, Surinder Neer, Devendra Singh Vishwanaagrik, Harnam Singh and Jang S Verman (Punjabi), etc.
