JASHN-E-URDU FEST FOCUS ON YOUNGSTERS

Source : The Pioneer The three-day long Urdu festival ‘Jashn-e-Urdu’ began with gusto at Ravindra Bhavan here from Friday. The three-day event is all about Urdu language in today’s time. The festival is being organised by Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy Cultural Department. Interestingly, the entire event is focused on the youngsters and their interest in Urdu language. The entire event is an amalgamation of Sufi Music and dance, Dialogues, Seminars, Painting, Open Mike, along with Urdu Education, Language and Literature, Calligraphy Workshop and book fair. Marking the first day, the event was held in four sessions. In the morning session, the city journalists were felicitated by Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy. Former Member of Parliament Kailash Sarang, Former BMC Commissioner Devi Saran and Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy Nusrat Mehdi presented the mementos and shawl to 75 journalists of the city. Kailsash Sarag while addressing the event said, “Journalists plays an important role in shaping up the society. But in today’s time when every newspaper and channel is turning negative, journalists should try and change their approach and thought process.” The event was followed with an afternoon session which was an interaction ‘Rubaroo’. The interaction session was held on the topic ‘Urdu and Movies’. Renowned film actors Shahwar Ali, Imran Khan and film Director Fouzia Arshi interacted with the audience on the occasion. Shahwar Ali said, “Urdu is a language with all the sweetness. It was because of Urdu language that I got my first break in Bollywood.” Fouzia Arshi further said that Jashn-e-Urdu is a positive concept to keep up the spirit of Urdu language. The day was followed with a literary event ‘Mehfil’s Open Mic. 32 youngsters recited their Urdu poetries and ghazals before the audience. The day was wrapped up with Egypt’s dance ‘Tanaura’ and a blissful performance by Harmony group.
