NAGAON: Krantikal Publication, one of the pioneer publications of the district, declared its prestigious literary award for the year of 2018 on Tuesday. In an interaction with this correspondent, the owner of the publication, Kailash Rajkhuwa said that the prestigious Krantikal Literary Award, 2018 would be conferred on renowned folklore artiste of the State,
Khagen Gogoi. The award will be conferred in a special function in the beginning of the new Assamese year i.e. in April, 2019.
The name of Gogoi was nominated for best contribution to the field of Assamese folk culture as well as folklore or folk music, Rajkhuwa further said. Gogoi was born in 1960 at Longpotia village near Charaideo in Sivasagar district and is one of those people of the State who dedicated his entire life in creation and innovation of Assamese folklore as well as folk culture of the State, especially Bihu, Tukarigeet and other forms of musical folk notes.
Krantikal Publication gave the award first to the renowned Assamese poet Kabin Phukon in 2011 and subsequently it was given to various dignitaries of the State like Ananda Chandra Datta, Pranab Jyoti Deka, Sananta Tanti, Jyan Pujari, Basanta Deka, Rofikul Hussain and Anil Ray Choudhury for their tremendous contribution to Assamese art, culture and literature.
