Thursday, 07 June 2018 | Bhubaneswar : Union Petroleum and Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is scheduled to inaugurate the three-day 5th Kalinga Literary Festival (KLF), the largest monsoon festival of India, on June 8 here, said Kalinga Literary Festival founder and director Rashmi Ranjan Parida in a Press meet held here on Wednesday.
Parida said Pavan Varma, Nirupama Rao, Amish Tripathy, Pratibha Ray and Pratibha Satpathy would also join the inaugural session and would dwell upon the central theme of the 5th KLF, i.e, “Towards a Just Society: Equality, Equity and Humanity in Literature.”
He also said Padmaj Pal, Amish Tripathy and Nirupama Rao would be awarded with the Kalinga Literary Awards of 2018 and young writers and poets from several districts of Odisha would be awarded the Kalinga Literary Youth Awards for their excellence in literary fields.
During the three-day festival, there would be several one to one and panel discussions with people in literary, media, entertainment and education world. More than 300 writers, poets, lyricists, journalists and public intellectuals would speak on the occasion.
The fest, which would have dedicated sessions on understanding and appreciating art, has attracted more than 40 artists from many States.
It would have Kalinga multi-lingual poetry sessions also. Besides, more than 10 books would be released and a special session on transgender community would be held during the fest. Among others, KLF co-founders Prof Kamala Kanta Dash and Prachee Naik, co-convenors Debasish Samantaray and Diksha Tiwari, members Ranjan Mallick and Debraj Mohanty were present.
