Baripada / Bhubaneswar : The 10-day-long Mayurbhanj Pustak Mela concluded here on Monday. The book fair, considered here as a confluence of language, literature and culture, was organized at the local Chhow Padia.
While a number of book stalls were set up by different publishing houses, intellectual discussions and a State-level Kavita Pathotsav formed a part of the Mela. Books like “Swara O Swakshara”, “Dhuli Dhupa”, “Ramya Galpamala” and “Baragachha” were also released during the event.
The closing ceremony held in the evening of the Christmas was, however, a glittering one. While Odisha High Court Justice Devabrat Dash was the chief guest on the occasion, Loksevak Mandal national secretary Niranjan Rath was the chief speaker. Bhubaneswar Ekamra Pustak Mela secretary Bhaskar Jena was the guest of honour. The speakers described books as harbinger of revolution and renaissance.
Good books with a social message bring about social reformations, they opined.
While MBJ Pustak Mela president Padmanabh Sahu presided, Mela secretary Engineer Manoj Dalbehera spoke on the importance of holding the book fair. Advocate Parvati Barik and Lecturer Samarendra Basa also spoke on the occasion.
