The third edition of the World Movie Festival by Navrasa Duende is dedicated to Satyajit Ray
Navrasa Duende aims to promote arts in a holistic way with its events focusing on music, dance, theatre, cinematic and visual arts, fashion, literature, architecture and wellness.
After presenting Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake that was staged at various Indian cities, it now comes up with the third edition of the Navrasa Duende Classic Movie Festival. It will feature the works of celebrated directors from around the world.
The films to be screened include
Citizen Kane , directed by Orson Welles;
Cranes are Flying by Mikhail Kalatozov,
Metropolis by Fritz Lang,
Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa,
Seventh Seal by Ingmar Bergman, Charlie Chaplin’s
Modern Times,Satyajit Ray’s
Pather Panchali , George Cukor’s
My Fair Lady ,
Pyaasa by Guru Dutt,
Night Train by Jerzy Kawalerowicz,
Little Girl from Hanoi , Alfred Hitchcock’s
The 39 Steps and
La Dolce Vita directed by Federico Fellini. These classics transcend geographical, cultural and language barriers.
The festival is supported by Federation of Film Societies Of India, Goethe Institute, Institut Francais, Instituto Cervantes, Polish Institut, Japan Foundation, Svenska Filminstituet, Films Sans Frontieres and other institutions.
India has earned its position in world cinema because the late Satyajit Ray’s invaluable contribution. The festival is being dedicated to him.
The films will be screened on June 22, 23, 29 and 30 at Sirifort Auditorium, New Delhi.
