Actor-comedian Vir Das is elated after being named one of the top 10 comedians in the world to watch out for by Variety magazine. However, he also plans to make use of his popularity by providing a platform to budding comedians from India to showcase their talent.

Vir, whose company, Weirdass rolls out new stand-up comic acts and content, is working on a list of places across the country where he can travel and meet standup comedians. They might perform their acts in Hindi but must be jocular and possess the talent to tickle one’s funny bones.

“In India, we have amazing stand-up comedians, who have great sense of humour. But they do not get an ideal platform to showcase their talent. Under our company Weirdass, we are trying to set up a platform, which will allow these talented artists to showcase their talent flawlessly,” he says.

A source close to Vir’s company says, “Through his company, Vir wants to give talented men and women, a permanent platform. These budding artists would do shows all over India and across globe in Hindi.”
