Pune’s Aashay film club to release first graphic novel ‘Darya’

This book will be published in Marathi and English, with the English translations by Samir Kulkarni. The book launch will be followed by a small interactive interview session of the author.

Aashay film club announced that debutant writer Vikram Patwardhan’s graphic novel ‘Darya’ will be released on December 16 at the Tilak Samarak Mandir at 6 pm.

This book will be launched by actor Amey Wagh and Mithila Palkar who were seen together in the Marathi film ‘Muramba’.

This book will be published in Marathi and English, with the English translations by Samir Kulkarni. The book launch will be followed by a small interactive interview session of the author.

This is a first of its kind graphic novel in Marathi with illustrations penned by Amir Khan Pathan a student from MIT and published by Kshitij Patwardhan script writer of Marathi film

‘Faster Fene’ and ‘Gauri Bhadale’.

“This unique book is 130 pages with 54 chapters and more than 50 illustrations. It is a story which is much needed for all Marathi readers,” said Virendra Chitrav of Aashay film club.

“The book Darya is targeted at young readers in the age group of 14 and above. The idea is to create our own heroes and legends with whom we can relate too. It is a fictional story of a group of fishermen living on an island and it covers the span of 21 years,” said Vikram about the book.

Aashay film club is one of the oldest film clubs in the city.
