Nobel Prize winner Barry Marshall has written a children’s book titled How to Win a Nobel Prize.

The story is about a girl called Mary who journeys through time and learns about some of the world’s most important scientific discoveries made by Nobel Prize winners. Besides a wealth of historic and scientific information in an interesting format, the book also contains experiments which children can do at home or at school. The book is illustrated by Bernard Caleo and co-written with Lorna Hendry.

Barry Marshall, along with Robin Warren, won the 2005 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for thier discovery on how the bacteria Helicobacter pylori causes stomach ulcers.

Barry Marshall’s story would be worth a book itself for when frustrated by several failed attempts in his research, he drank a culture of the bacteria himself! His experiment is the most cited article in the journal, Medical Journal of Australia 1985, in which it was published.

How to Win a Nobel Prize will be published by Black Inc in Australia; Oneworld’s imprint, Rock the Boat has acquired the UK rights. It is expected to be out in 2019.
