K. Sachidanandan wins Ezhuthachan Puraskaram 2017

Thriuvananthapuram: Poet K. Sachidanandan has been selected for this year’s Ezhuthachan Puraskaram, the highest literary honour that is given by the Kerala Sahitya Academy.

The award includes a prize money of Rs 5 lakh and a citation. The poet was selected for his contributions to Malayalam language and literature. The prize money of the award was enhanced to Rs 5 lakh from the previous Rs 1.5 lakh this year. Sachidanandan has contributed immensely to the language as a poet, playwright and translator. His major works include Ezhuthachan Ezhuthumbol, Peedanakalam,Venalmaram, Veedumattam and Apoornam. He has also written more than 15 collection of articles including Kurukshetram, Samvadangal Sameepanangal and Samskarathinte Rashtreeyam. Pala Lokam Pala Kalam and Moonnu Yathra are his travelogues.

Sachidanandan has won Kerala Sahitya Academy award for his poem, article, drama and travelogue. He has also served as the secretary of Kendra Sahitya Academy.
