The Literature festival season officially kicks off with Tata Literature Live! The Mumbai Litfest 2017 at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in Nariman Point and Prithvi Theatre in Juhu. The festival will begin today with what is being described as an “intellectual slugfest” between Oxford historian Peter Frankopan and Parliamentarian and litfest regular Shashi Tharoor on the colonial cultural exchange between India and Great Britain. The festival ends on Sunday, November 19, when the winners of the Tata Literature Live! Awards will be announced, followed by a speech by the Lifetime Achievement awardee Girish Karnad.

Founder and festival director Anil Dharker says that the most stimulating part of the festival will be the “masterful raconteurs and brilliant intellectuals”, over a 100 of whom will be congregating in the city to give talks and be part of panel discussions, workshops and readings.
