Hinduism and Nature , a book authored by Nanditha Krishna, historian and environmentalist was formally launched on July 7 at the C.P. Art Centre. Justice P.N. Prakash of the Madras High Court launched the book and handed over the first copy to Prof. N. Rajendran, Vice-Chancellor, Alagappa University.
Addressing the audience, Justice Prakash said, “The book is not based on imagination. Written in a simple and straight forward style, the book is easy to read and meant for the common man. Besides it gives a fascinating account of the worship of trees practised in this country for thousands of years.”
The book launch was followed by a seminar on religion and ecology, covering six faiths represented by Fr. Rayappa A. Kasi, O.N. Krishnan, Dr. Priyadarshana Jain, Dr. Sultan Ismail, Manveen Kaur Chadha and Dr. Nanditha Krishnan. The speakers stressed on how by working in a united manner, people can bring propserity to the country.
