Manushi, a young Tamil Poet was born in Thirunavalur, Villupuram district of Tamilnadu and presently lives in Pondicherry. Her official name is A. Jayabharathi and she is a research scholar doing the title ‘Influence study research on Rabindranath Tagore and Subramanya Bharathiyar’. Having lost her mother at her young age, sorrow clouded her mind and writing helped her to come out of the impact of loss and sorrow.

She has released 3 poetry collections so far- Kutti Ilavarasiyin Olisorkal, Muthangalin Kadavul, & Aathik Kaadhalin Ninaivuk Kurippukal. She received the Erode Tamizhanban award in 2015, Young writer award by Literary Association in 2016, Tiruppur Lion’s Club award in 2017 and Poovarasi Award 2017. She also delivered a speech in English, titled “Why am I writing?” in 2015 at Shillong on the occasion of young poets meet arranged by Sahitya academy. Her latest recognition is Yuva Puraskar Award for the year 2017, by Sahitya Academy for her poetry collection titled “Aadhik kaadhalin ninaivuk kurippugal” roughly translate as Memoir of bygone Love.
She also plans to write a Novel & feels that Humanity and love should be the only prime factors for writing. She is keen on feminist writing and to grab the attention for feminism, she assumed her surname as MANUSHI.
